What started as a single popcorn kiosk in 2015 has become one of Miami’s most recognized snack success stories. This year, Total Snacks founders Eleazar López Contreras and Mabe León-Ponte are celebrating 10 years of Doc Popcorn in the Magic City—along with two national awards, a booming catering business, and a game-changing delivery expansion that took off in late 2023.
Honored with both the Doc Popcorn 10 Year Anniversary Award and the 2025 Dippin’ Dots Founders Award, the husband-and-wife team is redefining what it means to build a community-driven snack brand.

A Decade of Doc Popcorn in Miami
In 2015, Eleazar and Mabe launched Doc Popcorn in Miami with a simple goal: to offer high-quality, feel-good snacks that bring people together. Ten years later, their brand has become a favorite at Bayside Marketplace, Westland Mall, and some of South Florida’s largest venues, including:
LoanDepot Park – Miami Marlins
- Chase Stadium – Inter Miami CF
- Florida Atlantic University Stadium
- Watsco Center – University of Miami
- Florida International University Stadium
- Homestead-Miami Speedway
Their hard work and deep local roots earned them the Doc Popcorn 10 Year Anniversary Award, recognizing a decade of delighting fans with fresh, warm, buttery popcorn across the region.
Catering Success: From Boardrooms to Birthdays
In addition to stadium partnerships and retail locations, Total Snacks has grown into a trusted catering brand—serving everything from corporate events and school functions to weddings, birthdays, and branded pop-ups.
Total Snacks offers full-service catering experiences featuring Doc Popcorn stations, Dippin’ Dots carts, ICEE Slushie machines, and Hola! Churros, making them a hit with both event planners and party guests across Miami.
“Catering allows us to be part of people’s most meaningful moments,” said co-founder Mabe León-Ponte. “Whether it’s a wedding or a product launch, we’re proud to bring flavor, fun, and joy to every celebration.”
A Major Leap Forward in Delivery (Launched Big in Late 2023)
Though Total Snacks began experimenting with delivery earlier, it wasn’t until late 2023 that they truly scaled their delivery operations, launching across multiple platforms including DoorDash, Uber Eats, and their own direct ordering system.
The timing proved perfect: the city’s appetite for convenient, celebratory treats was on the rise. Thanks to strategic investments and marketing, delivery orders surged—especially for home parties, office surprises, and seasonal events.
“Delivery was always part of the vision, but at the end of 2023, we committed fully,” said Eleazar López Contreras. “Now, we’re reaching more people than ever—right at their doorstep.”
Double Awards, National Recognition
In addition to their 10-year milestone, Eleazar and Mabe were also named winners of the 2025 Dippin’ Dots Founders Award, an honor reserved for brand partners who consistently push boundaries, innovate, and inspire.
“Eleazar and Mabe represent the heart of our brand,” said a Dippin’ Dots spokesperson. “They lead with passion, uplift their community, and continue to raise the bar across every channel.”
Snacks With Purpose
Despite their rapid growth, Total Snacks remains deeply community-focused. From hiring locally to supporting schools and charities, the company is known not just for its fun products—but for the heart behind the business.
“We built Total Snacks for Miami,” Mabe says. “And we’re proud that as we grow, we’re still grounded in the values we started with: quality, kindness, and connection.”
